The town sits in Alabama's rolling Piedmont region along Mulberry Creek, maintaining its rural character despite proximity to the Birmingham metro area. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport lies about 45 minutes southwest. The community's eastern boundary follows Mulberry Creek, which has defined the town since its early settlement.
