Mayfield is a tiny farming town of about 100 people in south-central Kansas, 50 miles southwest of Wichita along US Highway 160. Most visitors arrive via US 54 west from Wichita to Kingman, then southwest on US 160. The town sits on flat prairie land where wheat fields stretch to the horizon. Its preserved one-room schoolhouse from 1920 offers a glimpse into rural Kansas educational history.
