Maupin is a small Oregon town of 465 people along the Deschutes River, about 42 miles south of The Dalles via Highway 197. From Portland, it's roughly 100 miles via US 26 east and Highway 216. The town serves as a hub for whitewater rafting and steelhead fishing, with 13 miles of Class III rapids running right through town that draw outdoor enthusiasts from across the Northwest.
