Maunie is a tiny farming village of 57 people in southeastern Illinois, sitting where the Little Wabash meets the main Wabash River. Reach it via Illinois Route 14 from Interstate 64 or through Carmi on Route 1. The village runs one of Illinois' last free ferries, a cable-guided platform that's been carrying cars across the Wabash River to Indiana since 1876.
