Matamoras is a small Ohio River town of 864 people in Washington County, connected by State Route 7 along the river and Route 26 from inland areas. Most visitors arrive via I-77 to Route 7 from Marietta, about 15 miles south. The town operates one of Ohio's last cable-stayed ferries across to West Virginia when river conditions allow.
