Masontown is a small Preston County community of 518 people along the Cheat River, about 45 minutes north of Morgantown via Routes 119 and 26. The main access is WV Route 7, connecting to I-68 at Bruceton Mills. Most traffic uses Route 7 for commutes to Kingwood or connections to larger towns, as the mountainous terrain limits road options. The town's historic 1929 stone arch bridge still carries Route 7 over the Cheat River.
