Maskell is a tiny farming community of 76 people in northeastern Nebraska's Dixon County, just miles from the South Dakota border. Highway 12 provides the main access, connecting east to Sioux City (25 miles) and west through Nebraska farm country. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 29 in Iowa, then take Highway 12 through rolling agricultural land. The town's historic one-room schoolhouse from 1888 still stands as a testament to its pioneer roots.
