Mary Esther is a small Gulf Coast city in northwest Florida's Okaloosa County, home to about 4,000 people and positioned strategically near Hurlburt Field. US Highway 85 runs right through town, connecting north to Crestview and south to Fort Walton Beach, while State Road 397 provides east-west access. The Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is about 12 miles away. The town's crown jewel is the Mary Esther Museum, located in a beautifully restored 1940s schoolhouse.
