Martinez is a tiny rural community of 11 people in Starr County, near the Mexican border about 15 miles northwest of Rio Grande City. Reach it via US 83 west from Rio Grande City, then north on FM 755 through open ranch country. Long-distance visitors come through Laredo on US 83 after taking I-35 from San Antonio. It's one of Texas's smallest incorporated places.
