Martin is a small farming town in southwestern South Dakota that serves as Bennett County's seat. US Highway 18 runs right through town, connecting east to Hot Springs and west toward Nebraska, while Highway 73 provides north-south access. Most long-distance trips head to Rapid City about 90 miles northeast. The town centers around its impressive 1917 brick courthouse that dominates the main square.
