Marseilles is a small Illinois River town about 80 miles southwest of Chicago, accessible via I-80 Exit 90. The city sits at the intersection of Routes 6 and 71, making it a convenient stop between Chicago and the Quad Cities. Most visitors arrive from the interstate, though Route 6 offers a more scenic approach through LaSalle County farmland. The town's claim to fame is its 1907 hydroelectric dam, the oldest continuously operating facility on the Illinois River.
