Maroa is a farming community of 1,700 people in central Illinois, 15 miles southeast of Decatur on Route 105. Most visitors arrive via Route 105 from Decatur or Interstate 72 from Springfield. The town sits among corn and soybean fields in typical Midwest prairie country. Its restored 1920s movie theater still shows weekend films with original red velvet seating.
