Marion is the county seat of Marion County, located about 80 miles northeast of Columbia along US Highway 501. The city connects to Myrtle Beach via Highway 501 southeast and links to I-95 about 20 miles east through Routes 501 or 9. The Marion County Museum, housed in an 1886 courthouse, highlights the area's tobacco farming heritage and Native American artifacts.
