Maringouin is a small Louisiana town of 752 people located about 20 miles south of Baton Rouge via Highway 77. Most visitors exit I-10 at Plaquemine and drive south through sugarcane country to reach this delta community. The town sits in flat river parish terrain where cypress groves dot the landscape. Maringouin gets its name from the French word for mosquito.
