united states

Marfa sits in West Texas's high desert, about 200 miles from El Paso at 4,685 feet elevation. US Highway 90 connects it to Alpine (26 miles east) and continues toward El Paso, while US 67 arrives from Fort Davis through mountain country. Most long-distance visitors drive from San Antonio via I-10 to Fort Stockton, then south on US 385 and US 67. This small city of 2,500 became an unlikely international art destination, but it's equally famous for the mysterious Marfa Lights that appear in the eastern desert.
