Marble Falls sits in Texas Hill Country about 45 miles northwest of Austin via US 281. This Colorado River town of nearly 8,000 serves as a Highland Lakes gateway, with limestone bluffs and spring-fed waters creating distinctive scenery. Most visitors drive north from Austin on scenic US 281 or take Highway 71 to Ranch Road 1431. The city's name comes from natural marble formations that created waterfalls before the 1951 dam submerged them under Marble Falls Lake.
