Many is a small town in western Louisiana that serves as a gateway to Toledo Bend Reservoir, one of the South's largest man-made lakes. Located along US Highway 171 about 70 miles south of Shreveport, it sits in the piney hills near the Texas border. The town of 2,166 residents attracts anglers and boaters heading to the reservoir's numerous marinas and fishing camps. Many gets its distinctive name from Colonel John B. Many, a 19th-century military officer.
