Manvel is a growing suburb 25 miles south of Houston, connected mainly by Highway 6 north to Sugar Land and the energy corridor. Most residents commute to nearby Pearland, Alvin, or Houston via Highway 6 and FM 1128. The town started as a railroad stop in the 1890s, and its original depot still stands downtown as a community center.
