Manti sits in Utah's Sanpete Valley, surrounded by the Wasatch and Gunnison plateaus. US Highway 89 runs right through town, connecting north to Mount Pleasant and south toward Gunnison. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 15 to Nephi, then take State Route 132 east through the mountains. The town's limestone temple, built entirely by hand from local stone between 1877 and 1888, dominates the landscape from its hilltop perch.
