Manteo is the county seat of Dare County, located on Roanoke Island in North Carolina's Outer Banks. You reach it via US Highway 64, which crosses scenic bridges over Roanoke and Croatan Sounds. The drive from Raleigh takes about 4 hours, while Virginia Beach is roughly 2.5 hours away. The town connects to Nags Head and the wider Outer Banks via Highway 12. Manteo is home to the Roanoke Island Festival Park, featuring a full-scale replica of the Elizabeth II, a 16th-century sailing ship.
