Manteno is a small Illinois city about an hour south of Chicago via Interstate 57, sitting in the prairie country where the Kankakee River winds through farmland. The town of 9,000 grew up around the railroad and still maintains that heritage. State Route 17 runs east-west through town while I-57 handles most long-distance traffic. The restored 1854 railroad depot now serves as the local historical museum.
