Manokotak is a remote Yup'ik village on Nushagak Bay, accessible only by air or boat since no roads connect it to other towns. Manokotak Airport sits right in the village center, with flights to Dillingham 20 miles northeast. Locals get around on foot, ATVs, or snowmobiles along unpaved trails. The community operates one of Alaska's most active shared freezers for traditional foods.
