Manchester is a tiny Scott County community of about 200 people in west-central Illinois farm country. Take I-72 west from Springfield about 45 miles, then head north on local roads, or follow US 67 south from the Quad Cities through Jacksonville. The town sits on Route 106 amid rolling prairie farmland. Its 1872 one-room schoolhouse still stands as a piece of local history.
