Makoti is a farming town of 84 people in north-central North Dakota, about 30 miles southeast of Minot via US Highway 83 and County Road 8. The area sits in the Missouri River valley with rolling prairie and experiences harsh continental winters and warm summers. Most visitors arrive from Bismarck on US 83 north (90 miles) or use I-94 to connect to US 83. The town sits near Audubon National Wildlife Refuge, a major stop for migrating waterfowl.
