Mahomet is a small Illinois city about 10 miles west of Champaign-Urbana, accessible via Interstate 74 at Exit 172. Route 47 runs north-south through town, connecting to the University of Illinois area, while Route 150 provides east-west access. The University of Illinois Willard Airport is 15 miles southeast for air travelers. Despite being named after a Potawatomi chief, locals have always pronounced it "Ma-HAH-met."
