Magnolia lies 40 miles northwest of Houston in Montgomery County's rolling hill country. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 45 north to FM 1488 west, or take Highway 249 through Tomball to local roads. David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport serves the area just southeast of downtown. The city's original 1900s railroad depot still anchors the historic downtown district along Magnolia Boulevard.
