Magnolia sits in southwestern Arkansas near the Louisiana border, connected by US Highway 79 running north to Camden and south toward Louisiana. US Highway 82 provides the main east-west route to El Dorado, about 25 miles away. The city serves as Columbia County's seat and home to Southern Arkansas University, whose 150-foot bell tower dominates the skyline and can be seen for miles across the rolling countryside.
