Macomb is a college town in west-central Illinois, anchored by Western Illinois University. US Route 67 runs through downtown, connecting to I-74 about 25 miles north. Most visitors arrive from I-74 via Exit 24 at Good Hope. The university's Sherman Hall tower stands 150 feet tall and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the surrounding prairie.
