Mackinaw is a small farming town in central Illinois, about 20 miles southeast of Peoria via I-155 and Route 9. The town sits in Tazewell County's rolling prairie landscape along Mackinaw Creek. Most visitors arrive from Peoria, Springfield (via I-55 to Route 9), or Chicago on the same interstate route. The town's massive 1923 grain elevator still towers over Main Street as a working landmark.
