Lyons is a small timber town in Oregon's Cascade foothills, reached via Highway 22 east from Salem or Portland, then south on Highway 226. The scenic drive passes through forests and farmland before arriving at this community of about 1,100 people. Most visitors come for outdoor recreation in the nearby mountains, while locals make quick trips to Stayton or longer drives to Salem for services. The town's 1939 covered railroad bridge over the North Santiam River is still actively used by trains today.
