Lyons sits along US Highway 56 in central Kansas, about 65 miles west of McPherson. Most visitors arrive via US 56 from the east, connecting through McPherson and Hutchinson to reach Interstate 135. State Highway 14 runs north-south through town. The Carnegie library from 1904 still operates downtown, one of the few remaining Carnegie-funded libraries in Kansas.
