Lumberton is a small East Texas city about 20 miles north of Beaumont, reached via US Highway 96 from Interstate 10. The town sits in pine forest country with a humid climate and serves as a bedroom community for Beaumont's industrial workers. The restored 1907 Carnegie library downtown now houses the Tyrrell Historical Library.
