Lumber Bridge is a tiny community of 75 people in southeastern North Carolina, about 20 miles southwest of Fayetteville via NC-20. Long-distance travelers typically use I-95 to US-74 or connect through Fayetteville Regional Airport, 25 miles away. The town sits along the Lumber River in classic Sandhills country with pine forests and sandy soil. It's named for a historic lumber bridge that once crossed the river here.
