Lueders is a small Texas town of 271 people about 20 miles northeast of Abilene via US Highway 180. State Highway 6 provides north-south access through town. Most visitors come from Abilene for the short drive, while long-distance travelers typically connect through Abilene Regional Airport, 25 miles away. The town was named for German immigrant Charles Lueders, whose original 1880s stone store building still stands downtown.
