Lower Burrell is a small city along the Allegheny River about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Take Route 28 north from the city for a scenic 30-minute drive, or exit the Pennsylvania Turnpike at New Kensington and follow Route 56 west. The area features typical western Pennsylvania hills and river valleys. The historic Allegheny River Boulevard offers riverside walks where you can watch modern barges navigate waters once traveled by steamboats.
