Lovington is an oil industry hub in southeastern New Mexico's Permian Basin, accessible via US Highway 82 east-west and Highway 18 north-south. Most visitors drive in from Roswell (70 miles west) or Hobbs (20 miles south). The Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame houses one of the Southwest's largest collections of authentic ranch memorabilia.
