Loving is a small desert town in southeastern New Mexico, positioned along US Highway 285 about 30 miles northwest of Carlsbad. The highway connects it directly to Carlsbad Caverns National Park and continues north toward Artesia and Roswell. Most visitors are oil workers or tourists heading to the caverns, though the town sits on the historic Goodnight-Loving cattle trail that once carried Texas herds to Colorado markets.
