Lostant is a farming town of about 400 people in LaSalle County, 90 miles southwest of Chicago. Take I-39 to Exit 73, then Route 18 west for 8 miles. It's surrounded by corn and soybean fields in the Illinois River valley. The grain elevator dominates the skyline and serves as a landmark visible from miles across the flat prairie.
