Loomis is a small foothills city about 25 miles northeast of Sacramento, reachable via I-80 east to the Taylor Road or Horseshoe Bar Road exits. Highway 193 runs through downtown, connecting to Auburn and Lincoln, while Highway 65 provides another access route from the south. The rolling granite hills experience hot, dry summers and mild winters. Loomis proudly calls itself the "Eggplant Capital of the World" and hosts an annual Eggplant Festival each October.
