Lone Rock is a small river town of 734 people in southwestern Wisconsin's farm country. Highway 130 runs right through town, connecting to Spring Green (12 miles east) and Richland Center (15 miles northwest). Most visitors arrive via US-14 from Madison through Spring Green, then north on Highway 130. The town sits along the Wisconsin River with limestone bluffs and rolling farmland all around. Tri-County Regional Airport handles small planes and crop dusters just outside town. The community got its name from a huge sandstone rock that steamboats used as a navigation landmark until it was quarried away in the 1800s.
