Locust Grove is a tiny Shenandoah Valley community of 67 people, reached via Route 55 about 15 miles southwest of Front Royal. The area sits in rolling hill country where farms meet forest, with easy access from I-66 through Front Royal. The community gets its name from the locust trees that historically covered the area, prized by 19th-century farmers for their durable wood.
