Lockney is a small farming town of about 1,750 people in Floyd County, 50 miles northeast of Lubbock on the Texas High Plains. US Highway 70 runs east-west through town, connecting to Plainview 12 miles west and Matador 25 miles east, while State Highway 378 provides north-south access. The Floyd County Historical Museum occupies a restored 1920s school building.
