Lockhart is a small farming town in rural south-central Alabama's Covington County, surrounded by pine forests and agricultural land. Visitors typically arrive via State Route 55, which connects north to Andalusia (15 miles) and south toward Florida. From Montgomery, take US-331 south about 90 miles, then local roads into town. The town's historic general store has operated continuously since 1923 from its original wooden building on Main Street.
