Lock Springs is a tiny farming community in north-central Missouri with under 50 residents, sitting about 80 miles northeast of Kansas City. Reach it via I-35 north to Highway 36, then Highway 6 east through Gallatin, or take Highway 6 directly east from St. Joseph. The town got its name from a natural spring that was intended to supply water for canal locks that were never built.
