Liverpool is a tiny farming community of 70 people in Fulton County, about 25 miles southwest of Peoria via Route 97. Most visitors arrive from Peoria or Springfield, often heading to Illinois River recreation areas. The community was platted in 1837 and named after Liverpool, England, but never became the river port its founders hoped for—the original grain elevator still marks where the railroad once ran.
