Little Falls straddles the Mississippi River in central Minnesota, about 100 miles northwest of Minneapolis via Highway 10. The direct route from the Twin Cities follows I-94 west to St. Cloud, then Highway 10 north through farmland and small towns. Highway 27 provides east-west connections to Alexandria and other regional communities. The city's downtown overlooks the Mississippi where historic rapids once powered lumber mills. The Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site preserves the aviator's boyhood home and original farmhouse.
