Linwood is a small Kansas River town of 300 people, about 30 miles west of Kansas City. Highway 24 runs right through town, connecting to Lawrence in 20 minutes and Kansas City in 45. Most residents commute to these larger cities for work. The town's standout feature is its 1870s limestone schoolhouse, built from stone quarried right from the local river bluffs.
