Linden is a tiny rural community in Cumberland County, about 20 miles northwest of Fayetteville via NC Highway 24. Most visitors arrive from Raleigh (I-40 to US-401 south to NC-24) or Charlotte (I-74 to I-95 to US-401 to NC-24). The area sits in North Carolina's Coastal Plain among pine forests and farmland. Linden is home to Simmons Army Airfield, an active military aviation facility serving Fort Liberty since World War II.
