The community sits amid cotton and soybean fields about 20 miles from the Mississippi River. Most visitors exit I-55 at Marston and drive 8 miles west on Route 162 through agricultural countryside. The town was named after former Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs, though the spelling changed during incorporation.
