Lexington is Holmes County's seat, located about 60 miles north of Jackson via Highway 17. Most visitors come from Jackson (one hour south) or connect from Interstate 55, which runs 20 miles east of town. The area is classic Mississippi Delta farmland with cotton and soybean fields stretching in all directions. The 1908 Holmes County Courthouse features a distinctive red brick design with a prominent clock tower that's visible from the main highway.
